Sue Parrish is an owner and vice president of BMP Electric, a medium-sized electrical contracting company that handles commercial contracts in Central Florida. Parrish is responsible for all of the company’s accounting, payroll, and billing.
BMP Electric has been a JOBPOWER construction accounting software customer for more than nine years, following a company reorganization in the wake of the 2008 recession.
BMP’s previous accounting software, ComputerEase, was too expensive and too convoluted for the company’s updated needs. “If you had to go in and make corrections or anything like that it would be like an Act of Congress.”
QuickBooks was likewise inappropriate for BMP’s needs because it was not specific enough to handle the company’s payroll requirements.
Parrish says, “My husband and I talked about replacing our accounting software, and we said we need to get a software that works for us as contractors.”
After seeing an online demonstration Parrish decided to purchase JOBPOWER construction accounting software. The ease of use and the fact that it was software meant for contractors were the key factors in her choice.
More features mean easier management of jobs
Gradually, Parrish has adopted more and more features of JOBPOWER into her working days thanks to encouragement from the support staff at JOBPOWER.
Previously, BMP Electric outsourced payroll to a specialist because it was difficult to do in QuickBooks and in order to avoid the liability of tax reporting. However, Parrish had trouble inputting data into JOBPOWER from the outside provider, and the support team convinced her to try doing her payroll within JOBPOWER. She’s never looked back, as it made her life much easier.
And now, on further encouragement from Support, BMP is adding document management. “We’re going to start downloading our contacts and information into the job side.”
“My bank statements are a breeze. It used to take me a week to do them, but now I can do them in an hour or less. Everything comes out to the penny: my payroll reports, my tax reporting, everything I need, including my 941.”
BMP’s project manager and accounts payable clerk are also able to easily access any information they need using JOBPOWER reporting so that job management is easy and accessible to everyone in the company. Parrish says she likes to have current job information within reach in the office.
In addition to encouraging Parrish to implement more of JOBPOWER’s features, the support team ensured she understands how the software can support her specific business needs.
Parrish has integrated the software into her electrical contracting business as a comprehensive solution made for contractors. “Once you get all the right information input and get everything set up, the software pulls everything that it needs for what you need. I’ve been very, very happy with JOBPOWER.”
